RespectJournalists – A Campaign for the future of journalism

Services offered: Strategic communication, PR, event organization

In an era marked by disinformation, commercial and political pressures, quality journalism is becoming increasingly vulnerable. Lack of funding, political attacks, loss of public trust, and compromised editorial practices deeply affect the media industry. Moreover, there are not enough initiatives directly supporting journalists and providing them with a space for professional development.

In this context, in November 2019, TUDOR COMMUNICATIONS launched the #RespectJournalists campaign, a one-year initiative aimed at restoring value and respect in journalism through direct support for media professionals. The campaign was based on a clear reality: the press needs active support, not just criticism.

Challenges & Adaptations

The pandemic posed an unexpected test for the #RespectJournalists campaign, forcing a rapid rethinking of strategy. Initial plans focused on physical events, debates, and in-person journalist meetings had to be put on hold.

The development of the Journalists’ Academy was accelerated, shifting entirely online. The monthly training sessions became key reference points for journalists across the country, providing access to resources and community support regardless of location. May was transformed into Responsible Press Month, featuring a series of online interviews and debates with renowned journalists to keep the conversation on media’s future alive.

Far from slowing down the campaign, the pandemic proved that valuable initiatives could grow even in the most challenging conditions. #RespectJournalists continued its mission, adapting to a changing media landscape and creating a support and education space for journalists, even in unpredictable times.

Results & Impact

In just one year, the #RespectJournalists campaign demonstrated that responsible, quality journalism can be supported through concrete actions, even without large financial resources. TUDOR COMMUNICATIONS successfully created a safe space for journalists to learn, collaborate, and contribute to improving Romania’s media landscape.
